Tickets are on sale for “My Fair Lady,” coming to Cortland Repertory Theatre from Wednesday to June 14.
Eliza Doolittle is a young flower seller with an unmistakable Cockney accent that keeps her in the lower rungs of Edwardian society. When Professor Henry Higgins tries to teach her how to speak like “a proper lady,” an unlikely friendship begins to flourish.
The 1956 original Broadway production, adapted from George Bernard Shaw’s “Pygmalion,” starred Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison, won six Tony Awards including Best Musical, and ran for 2,717 performances making it, at the time, the longest-running musical in Broadway history.
This classic musical features “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?” “With a Little Bit of Luck,” “The Rain in Spain,” “Get Me to the Church on Time,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “On the Street Where You Live” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.”
The show features Molly Bremer as Eliza Doolittle, James Tweedale as Professor Henry Higgins, Derek Emerson Powell as Col. Pickering, Colin Wasmund as Alfred P. Dolittle, Eli Vanderkolk as Freddy Eynsford-Hill, Catherine Gaffney as Mrs. Higgins and Rachel Fry as Mrs. Pearce.
