Dryden man faces weapons, drug charges

Accused: Jason N. D. Brotherton, 41, of Dryden

Charges: Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and numerous traffic violations.

Details: Tompkins County sheriff’s deputies stopped Brotherton’s vehicle about 11:09 a.m. Feb. 13 on McLean Cortland Road in the town of Groton for a speed violation and switched plates. Deputies said they found Brotherton’s driver’s license was revoked, and the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured. Non-prescription suboxone strips were found in the vehicle, as well as a loaded handgun tucked between the driver’s seat and center console, police said.

Legal actions: Brotherton was arraigned via Tompkins County central arraignment, but future court details were unavailable.
