Joan A. (Kersnowski) Grant, (“Ma-Ma-Jo), now at peace, passed away at home (cared for by family) had advanced dementia (s/p onset from a stroke 11 years ago).
Born March 7th, 1937 daughter of the late Leo (“Luke”) and Arlene (Shoop) Kersnowski.
Joan was a graduate of Forest City High School. She was a secretary for Opportunities for Broome. Then moving to Cortland, she was a secretary and retired from Smith-Corona. Joan and her husband became “snow-birds” residing in Lakeland Florida. She returned to the workforce as a security officer
for the State of Florida, one of her great assignments was Lakeland Airport. Where she worked the airshows, met many acquaintances as well as the “Blue-Angels”. Joan Cherished her friends, neighbors, and Church of Worship, officiating “Brother Gary” in the “Sunshine State”.
Joan is survived by her sons, Stephen (Mary) Dohanich, Deron (Wendy) Dohanich, daughter, Robin (Dohanich) Betters. Stepdaughters, Vickey Weale, Pam (Don) Sevey and Jackie Grant. Grandchildren Karla and Trevor Betters, Keryn (Dohanich) Seth, Christopher and Joshua Dohanich, Andrew and
Daniel Dohanich, step grandchildren, Darcey and Kendra Hutchins, Brian Weale. Great Grandsons, Trenton Betters, and Taran Seth, extended family, Tanya Stanley, Gavin and Ahmir, several cousins and sisters-in-law.
Joan was predeceased by her loving Husband, John (Jack) Grant, stepdaughter Valerie Grant and granddaughter Abigail Dohanich.
