Madeline V. Stone, 74, passed away peacefully with her sister, daughter and
granddaughter by her side after a long hard fought battle with breast cancer. She was born on August 2, 1950 in Norwich to the late Stanley and Verna Morley. She was also predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Sheridan Stone; her daughter, Dodie Whaley; her son, D.J. Whaley; one sister, five brothers, and her father in law, Frederick Stone.
She leaves behind her children, Tammy (Victor Marrero) Whaley, Andy (Melissa) Stone, and Chris (Cindy Mullins) Stone; her grandchildren, Alexis Pierson, Ashley Pitts, Latasia Thomas, Dreyonna Thomas, D.J. Pitts, Mallery Stone, Jessica Stone, Ian Stone, Paige Stone, Bryce Stone, Landen Stone, Caden Stone, and Tyler Poole; her great-grandchildren, Kamdyn, Carsyn, Korbyn, Audrianna, Kianna, Madeline, Gemma, Clayton, Sheridan, and Sharlynne; her siblings, Rosie Thornton, Carol (Gene) Baldwin, Gary (Nan) Morley, Richard (Nancy) Morley, and Ellen Morley. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends also survive.
Madeline began her career working at Nortogs in Norwich before moving on to
Advanced Awards in Marathon and eventually retiring in 2015 from North Norwich Head Start. She enjoyed camping, dancing, TV game shows and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a good friend to everyone she met, always remaining positive and never having a bad word to say.
Calling hours for Madeline will take place on Tuesday, May27, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich from 1:00-3:00pm.
