Maple Sugarin’ Day comes to Lime Hollow

Put on the waterproof shoes and dress in layers, the Lime Hollow Nature Center will have Maple Sugarin’ Day March 22.

The event, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will include syrup-making demonstrations by Onondaga-Cortland-Madison Board of Cooperative Educational Services from 9 a.m. to noon.

Participants can taste the sap fresh from the tree, sample jack wax in the sugar shack and dine on pancakes with local maple syrup. CoffeeMania will provide hot chocolate and coffee.

BOCES’ New Visions Environmental Science class will also provide some educational programming. Students have been tapping trees, making syrup and learning about the maple-sugaring process.
