Tompkins offers disaster training in Dryden

DRYDEN — Tompkins County’s Citizen Preparedness Corps will have a training session at 6 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Dryden Fire Department on North Street.

The session, led by New York National Guard member working with the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, are meant to teach people how to prepare for and respond to disasters and emergencies.

“With severe weather events becoming more frequent and more extreme, it’s more important than ever to be prepared for disasters,” said Geoff Dunn, Tompkins County’s community preparedness coordinator, in a release. “This is a great opportunity to learn how to properly develop family emergency plans and stock up on supplies.”

Participants will get a disaster preparedness kits, one per household.
