Marathon holds on for sectional win over Moravia

Despite being outhit by No. 9 Moravia 14-5, No. 8 Marathon capitalized with runners on base and the Olympians held on for a narrow 5-4 win over the Blue Devils in the first round of the Section IV Class C tournament Thursday at Appleby Elementary School. Marathon moves on to the quarterfinal round, where it will play No. 1 Tioga at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tioga High School.
